Music Director - Recca Leung

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Leung Yiu Fung, Recca began his music studies with Mr. Tse Luen Wah on the euphonium and trombone, moving on to performance and pedagogical technique on euphonium and tuba with the Hungarian Nation Philharmonic principal tuba Mr. Roland Szentpali.

 

In 2014, Leung graduated at Conservatoire Nationale de Strasbough in France, where he received a Specialization Degree. His teachers included Miraphone Artist Mr. Philippe Wendling, Strasbourg Philharmonica Principal Tuba Mr. Micaël Cortone d'Amore and Mr. Bastien Baumet. During his studies, he also had the privilege to attend and perform at masterclasses hosted by Mr. Steven Mead, Mr. David Thornton and more.

 

As an active performer, Leung has collaborated with various symphonic bands and ensemble across Hong Kong and Europe, including Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia, Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia, Hong Kong Professional Winds, Psalm Wind Orchestra, Brass Band Due Conservatoire de Strasbourg etc and is currently plays as trombonist at local pop band “Lucky 6”.

 

Leung has gained great successes at numerous competitions and band festivals, including the Gold Medal in euphonium Solo Competition at the 2014 Taiwan International Band Festival. In 2015, he was awarded the third prize at the Epinal Artistic Competition in France.

 

To promote the development of euphonium solo performance among Hong Kong, Leung is also the band conductor and euphonium tutor at many local primary and secondary schools. He has been invited as a guest host at ‘R4 Buddies’ of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) and also the faculty member of 2017 Asia Tuba Euphonium Festival.

 

Beside being a passionate music performer, Leung also works with various schools and organization as Conductor including Good Hope School (Primary Section), Pui Ching Primary School, Kowloon Tong Primary School, C.C.C. Heep Woo Primary School,  Pun U Association Wah Yan Primary School etc. In 2019, Leung received the Best Conductor Award and came in second runner up in the Nie Er Youth Wind Band Art Week (Public) competition.

 

Leung is an artist at K&G mouthpiece with his euphonium. He is using size 4D+ mouthpiece.

Executive Director - Horence Lam 

Born in Hong Kong, Horence started to learn both tuba and euphonium from Mr Lee Sing Wan and Dr Lee Yu Kiu at the age of 7, he then decided to focus on learning euphonium in music office with Miss Chan Pui Ling, Mr T se Luen Wah is one of his mentoring teacher as well. In 2018, he earned his Bachelor degree from Hong Kong Baptist University, the first student majoring in euphonium performance and pedagogy, under the guidance of Mr. Lam Wing T san. He then pursued his master degree in Royal Northern College of Music, learning from two renowned international euphonium artists Steven Mead and David Thornton. Meanwhile, he learned bass trumpet and conducting while studying overseas.

Horence is enthusiastic in participating in musical events and traveling around. He has gone to places such as the Netherlands, Thailand, Korea, United Kingdom, Beijing, T aiwan and Macau for music festivals and competitions. He participated in WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra in 2011, SliderAsia 2015, Hong Kong Tubamania in 2014 and Slide Factory – European Trombone Festival 2013 and the Jeju International Woodwind Ensemble Festival in 2013. He has played in masterclasses of David Childs, Fabian Bloach, Soichiro Hokazono, Irving Ray, Mark Glover.

At the time studying overboard, Horence was active in participating in different activities around the world. He served as guest solo euphonium player in different brass bands , including Blackbern and Darwen Band and Hatfield Band. In 2018, he was selected as the member to perform “Die sieben T age der Woche” by Karlheinz Stockhausen in the renowned Holland Music Festival. The year after, he won first place in the T aiwan euphonium open class competition and the champion of the Foden’s band contest duet category.

After graduating from RNCM in 2020, Horence returned to Hong Kong to develop his career. He is serving as lower brass teacher in different local schools He also appears in different local bands including Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia, Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonic, Hong Kong Professional winds, Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band, Oktoberfest Band, etc. In 2021, he founded The Versatile Euphonium Ensemble with his friends, in order to spread joy and raise the awareness of euphonium to the next generation. Horence is a K&G mouthpiece artist, exclusively playing 5D+ on euphonium.

Managing Director - Jasper Chan 

CHAN Jasper graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with the Bachelor degree of Arts in Music, majoring Tuba performance under Mr. Yongyut Tossponapinun. He has participated in master classes of renowned Tuba players, including Anne Jelle Visser, James Gourlay, Paul Luxenberg, Roger Bobo, Roland Szentpali, Steve Rose and Øystein Baadsvik. 

 

Jasper has devoted himself to both ensemble and solo performance. He has collaborated with Yamaha artists Joe Burgstaller and Eastman artists Christopher Olka to perform in Brass Quintet and Tuba Quartet. In 2014, he was selected by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to join the ‘Share the Stage with Hong Kong Phil’ programme. In 2023 Jay Pop Live concert, he performed with sousaphone as the featured artist in the concert. With his excellent musical engagement, he was the recipient of the ‘Outstanding Extra Curriculum Activities Scholarship’ from the Chung Chi College.

 

 As an active player in different ensembles, he has participated in numerous overseas event, including the 9th Mid Europe – Conference for Symphonic Bands & Ensembles International Youth Orchestra Competition in Austria, the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, the Netherlands and the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) Conference International Band Festival in Chiayi City, Taiwan, Kerkrade and the Netherlands. In 2017, he formed a local professional brass quintet, Mr. Brass, with four others professional brass players in Hong Kong. The group aimed to promote ensemble and brass music and they have performed in RTHK, TVB, Tai Kwun, K11 mall, Airport and several occasions.

 

After graduation, Jasper started his music career to serve as lower brass tutor and conductor in Hong Kong. In 2017, he has joint the Conn-Selmer Institute to develop his teaching skills. He is currently the Lower Brass Tutor of Ying Wa Primary and College, Yaumati Catholic Primary School and Hong Kong Academy . He also appeared as the juror in different music competitions.
